Do you mix ink often or do you prefer to use one ink at a time? Any favorite combos/inks? I’m also really curious about what pens you use! 8D

Three favorites: Dark Green, Poussière de Lune, Rouge Hematite.

I don’t mix colors much. Last year I was using Diamine Emerald + Aurora Blue, but Emerald solo has grown on me since then.

More recently I’ve been mixing Diamine Vermillion + J. Herbin Rouge Hematite. Rouge Hematite is an incredible color, but the ink is very concentrated and there are downsides to that—so I’ve been tempering it with a weaker red.

Believe it or not, I’d planned on making a pen collection post for similar “stop buying more you giant moron” reasons sometime next week…when my two latest acquisitions arrive. /fail
But in case you were curious, below are the two I’ve got on-hand and inked.

My fountain pen ink collection.

Decided to drag it all out and take a picture so I can remind myself how much I’ve already got before I buy any more.

(from left to right and front to back)
- J. Herbin — Rouge Opéra, Orange Indien, Poussière de Lune, Rouge Hematite

- Noodler’s — Apache Sunset, Black Swan in Australian Roses

Wow. Decided to give The Goulet Pen Company a shot on Thursday, and my order came in today.

Look at this delicious spread! Free ink swatches, couple promo slips…plus a hand-written note, complete with wax seal! (The paper around it is slightly wrinkled because I beat it up a bit—as in, ‘folded in half’—to see just how supple it truly was. It’s completely intact.)

…And all these treats despite being flooded with orders. There were at least 46 of us who jumped on the 1670 pile.

Color me impressed. I’m officially a fan ❤

Oh, man! The Rhodia Drivers are getting samples of a new LE ink from J. Herbin, “Rouge Hematite”. What a classy bottle—I’ll feel terrible if I have to wreck the seal to open it, but that color is too amazing not to use. Hope it’ll be available stateside.

I wanted a turquoise color of sorts for NaNoWriMo. It’s on order…so I figured I’d ~~procrastinate on my novel~~ bide my time with whatever blue-green I could jury rig, and make that huge boring bottle of Diamine Emerald a more appealing proposition in the process.
The results were better than I expected.

I should probably have put more emphasis on how good that bleedproof white is. It glides on with a minimal amount of water and effort, yet still manages to be more consistently opaque than my usual poison.
But I really don’t think I can stick with it.
