I tried making this tonight and it came out really “…eh.” :(
Next time I don’t think I’ll use plum tomatoes.

2 notestonight I made chili con carne without the aid of a McCormick seasoning mix for the first time
things I learned:
- when adding a habanero, ground red pepper is probably unnecessary
- do not fear the salt (or: add more worcestershire sauce or beef broth)
- cumin is the magical spice that makes chili smell like chili
- drain at least one can of beans or you will have to cook this thing down for over an hour wtf

NotesFried Egg and Avocado Sandwich
My variation on this recipe:
- no bacon (no bacon grease either)
- less butter
- less cream cheese
- no salt or pepper
- more avo
- more tomato
- egg cooked sunny side up (as suggested in the comments)
- what onions and parsley? whoops
One of…nah, scratch that, the best sandwich I’ve ever made. SSS-tier. I will probably take a picture of the one I make tomorrow.
…assuming that in my first attempt at eggs sunny-side up, I didn’t fuck up and give myself salmonellosis. :(

Notestasty tasty salad
- mixed greens
- strawberries
- crumbled bleu cheese
- ranch dressing
Next time I will use a greater percentage of “crunchy” greens in smaller pieces and not forget the craisins. The whole assembly would probably be better with an obnoxiously sweet vinaigrette, but a ranch is fine too.
If I can find candied walnuts they may also be fair game.

Notestsubushi-an recipe nom nom
I had this over vanilla ice cream at a restaurant recently—yum. Up there with caramel, chocolate syrup and mini M&Ms on the “ideal vanilla ice cream toppings” list.
