tonight I made chili con carne without the aid of a McCormick seasoning mix for the first time
things I learned:
- when adding a habanero, ground red pepper is probably unnecessary
- do not fear the salt (or: add more worcestershire sauce or beef broth)
- cumin is the magical spice that makes chili smell like chili
- drain at least one can of beans or you will have to cook this thing down for over an hour wtf
