After spending a little bit more time with the newly-created Obsessive Loser Setup, I’ve been rather rudely reminded that Tall Guy’s cheapass knockoff-brand of a TV has close to 10% overscan on all sides. Cracking it open and screwing with the pots has been deemed verboten (…it’s for my own good, really)
…Wonder how much a nice little Sony Wega is going for on...

Seems like Dodonpachi Dai-Ou-Jou is the only port with a 16:9 option, so it was the only one I was able to play with correctly-proportioned graphics (!) I could seriously get used to this. Dunno if it’s me just getting accustomed to my HRAP2 for shooters, but d-pad control felt seriously sticky compared to the analog stick. I don’t normally use analog, so I kept inadvertently switching back and forth (to very poor results lol) The TV’s pathetic interlacing attempts weren’t as game-breaking as in Ibara, but ended up looking...

Impressions of a Rose Thorn
Ibara is kinda cool; love the twisted military motif. I figured I could suck it up when I had a little trouble discerning enemies from scenery, but when I missed at the first boss because her bullets blended in with the water, I realized there was no playing this on an LCD HDTV (without a real upscaler).
What’s with the loading times, anyway?
